Parish Council Committees

Committee and Full Council

Committee and Full Council meetings provide an opportunity for residents to attend, voice opinion, seek information and understand more about the responsibilities of a Parish council.

Accommodation Committee

Responsible for overseeing the Operational and Asset Management arrangements, Capital Income and Expenditure and Marketing arrangements for the Council’s assets. The Assets currently include two Community Halls, the Parish Office in the Public Library and other areas of the Public Library designated to the Parish Council for community use from time to time.

Finance and Establishment

The Finance & Establishment Committee exists to ensure that Parish resources are effectively used and the maximum benefit derived by the local inhabitants.  The Committee shall advise on policy, set budgets and oversee operational control for all routine administrative and personnel matters.

Personnel Committee

To support and appraise the role of the Parish Clerk in their duties. The Committee has delegated authority from the Council to receive and scrutinise at least half-yearly reports from the Clerk on the general management of the Council’s staff, as well as administrative and operational arrangements, including Health & Safety.

Planning and Environment Committee

The Planning and Environment Committee endeavours to ensure that the unique quality and character of the structures and amenities of the Parish are retained and improved.  The committee considers all planning applications for the Parish and refers opinion on each to the District Council.

Recreation and Community Committee

The Recreation and Community Committee is set up to promote and arrange local events, leisure facilities and activities that enhance the well being of the community and to oversee the maintenance of the Parish Council’s allotments, playgrounds and open spaces which are important leisure facilities, as well as the local amenities of benches, bus shelters and notice boards.
